WELCOME to Christopher Shipper's Senior AE Thesis e-Portfolio!

About Christopher Shipper

Chris Shipper is currently a fifth year Architectural Engineering student working towards a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering with a focus on structures. He intends to graduate from Penn State in May 2008, and pursue a Masters degree at another school. Upon completion of his academics, Chris intends to enter the professional world as an Engineer in Training, and work towards earning his Professional Engineering License.
Chris decided to become an architectural engineering student by coupling his interests in buildings and architecture with math and physics.

Over the past two summers, Chris has had the opportunity to work as an intern for NuTec Design & Associates Inc.  At Nutec, Chris was able to work on projects that he could apply the design concepts he has learned from courses. Nutec has provided Chris with invaluable real world engineering problems and solutions that will help him through his fifth year of school and further.

In his free time Chris enjoys being outside, watching Penn State football, spending time with family and friends, learning about new hobbies and exercising. One of Chris’s current hobbies is learning about the art of Bonsai.

User Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work‐in‐progress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Christopher Ankeny. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design.

This is a student-generated Capstone Project e-Portfolio (CPEP) produced in conjunction with the AE Senior Thesis e-Studio.
The Capstone Project Electronic Portfolio (CPEP) is a web-based project and information center. It contains material produced for a year-long Senior Thesis class. Its purpose, in addition to providing central storage of individual assignments, is to foster communication and collaboration between student, faculty consultant, course instructors, and industry consultants. This website is dedicated to the research and analysis conducted via guidelines provided by the Department of Architectural Engineering. For an explanation of this capstone design course and its requirements, click here.
